Our privacy policy in plain English

Top Bookmaker is an information website about betting and horse racing. We have designed it to collect as little personal data as possible. This policy explains what information is handled when you visit, why, and the rights you have under UK data protection law.

What this policy covers

This policy applies to the Top Bookmaker website, which is published by Mark Ellison, 21 Old Station Road, Newmarket, Suffolk CB8 8GB, United Kingdom. He is the data controller for the personal data described below and can be reached at [email protected]. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Top Bookmaker and its publisher. You do not need to register or log in to read anything on the site, and we do not ask for your name, address, date of birth or payment details. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising profiles.

We do not use analytics or tracking cookies, and we do not run advertising tags that follow you around the web.

Browser storage and server logs

Your cookie notice choice and anything you type into a tool such as the each-way calculator stay in your own browser's local storage. That information is not sent to us, and you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Like almost every website, the server records standard access logs when pages are requested. They are processed by the site's hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc., only to deliver the pages, keep the site secure and fix technical problems, and they are not combined with other information to identify you. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website. Logs are deleted within 30 days, unless a specific entry is needed longer to investigate a security incident, in which case only that entry is kept, and only until the matter is closed.

Who processes the data on our behalf

The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, Inc., which processes the server logs described above on the publisher's behalf to deliver the pages and keep them secure. Its own privacy policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. Cloudflare may process this data in the United States; it is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which UK law recognises as an adequate safeguard.

No personal data is sold, rented or passed to bookmakers, advertisers or data brokers. Your cookie choice and anything typed into the calculators stay in your own browser and are never sent to us, so no lawful basis is needed for them.

E-mails and links to bookmakers

If you e-mail [email protected], we receive your e-mail address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to deal with your enquiry, on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering it, and delete the e-mail after 12 months. Please do not send us account passwords, payment details or identity documents. Our contact page explains what we can help with.

Our pages link to bookmakers and other websites. Once you leave Top Bookmaker, that website's own privacy policy applies, and we have no control over the data it collects. Please read its policy before you register or deposit.

Your rights and how to complain

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to ask for access to personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased and to object to how we use it. To make a request, e-mail [email protected] and tell us what you would like us to do. Because we hold so little, most requests concern e-mails you have sent us.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator. We may update this policy from time to time, and the version on this page is always the current one.
